Overview

The Communications and Advocacy Analyst supports the delivery of UNFPA's Country Programme by leading strategic communication and advocacy initiatives, ensuring UNFPA's mission is clearly communicated and aligned with national policies and UN-wide initiatives.


Key Responsibilities
  • Promotes awareness about the centrality of the ICPD agenda through dissemination of strategic information and materials.
  • Identifies and develops activities to enhance the visibility of UNFPA’s work.
  • Develops/oversees advocacy materials.
  • Formulates strategy for UNFPA branding and provides guidance on corporate image activities.
  • Develops strategies for improved and expanded coverage in the media.
  • Writes stories for UNFPA's internal newsletter “Voices”.
  • Organizes advocacy campaigns on international days.
  • Updates regularly UNFPA Myanmar website and other social media.
  • Supports the Representative as co-Chair of the UN Communications Group (UNCG).
Required Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the field of communication.
  • Previous experience on building effective partnerships with members of the media, NGOs, international and national organizations, business groups, and others.
  • Good knowledge of current development issues in Myanmar.
  • Good understanding of Myanmar culture, history and political contexts.
  • Good with communications approaches for planning, executing, and monitoring communications strategies.
  • Experience as a spokesperson for an international organization will be an added advantage.
Qualifications

Advanced university degree in Political Science, Media Studies, Communication, Public Relations, Population, Demography and/or other related social science related fields.

Languages Required
Fluency in oral and written English and Myanmar is essential with ability to write clearly and concisely and to compose correspondence and documents in both languages.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of local languages in one of UNFPA target states and regions is an asset.
