Overview

The Programme Associate position supports the planning, implementation, and monitoring of UNFPA’s programmatic portfolio in Afghanistan to ensure effective implementation at sub-national levels. The role contributes to advancing UNFPA's objectives by working closely with the UNFPA team and relevant partners.


Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in country programme and component project formulation by gathering information, drafting project documents and work plans, and preparing tables and statistical data.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with NGOs and stakeholders to integrate Humanitarian and Basic Human Needs (BHN) principles.
  • Support advocacy campaigns and community outreach activities.
  • Contribute to data collection and analysis for program decision-making.
  • Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and communication materials.
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of programme/project budget proposals.
  • Monitor and evaluate programmes/projects, categorizing, updating, tracking, and analyzing data.
  • Liaise with relevant parties on interpretation of activities/services and planning instruments.
  • Draft correspondence and communications related to programme/project administration.
  • Assist in the review of implementing partner agreements, financial reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Unit to ensure compliance and quality assurance.
  • Maintain records of partner agreements, advances, disbursements, and liquidations.
  • Coordinate communication between implementing partners and the office.
  • Support capacity-building activities for Implementing Partners.
Required Experience
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in programme/ project management are required.
  • Relevant experience in administration, finance and project management is required.
  • Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems is required.
  • Experience with UNFPA systems and inter-UN coordination is desired.
Qualifications

Completed Secondary Level Education required.

Languages Required
Fluency in English and local language Dari and/or Pashto is required.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of other UN languages would be an asset.
