The Database Manager is responsible for creating, managing, and modifying Computer Assisted Wargaming (CAW) databases to support CAW exercises and NATO 2030 Agenda activities. The role ensures the effective operation of databases and leads the database development process.


Key Responsibilities
  • Creates, manages and modifies CAW databases for CAW exercises and NATO 2030 Agenda activities.
  • Is responsible for the effective operation of databases.
  • Leads the database development process in coordination with wargaming event planners.
  • Liaises with the wargaming team and training audience for parameter input.
  • Maintains effective CAW databases of units and performance parameters.
  • Configures database building tools with relevant data.
  • Trains database tool operators.
  • Leads wargaming database review and validation sessions.
  • Co-ordinates with systems engineers on wargaming database validation sessions.
  • Is responsible for timely database delivery.
  • Monitors simulation during CAW events and implements modifications.
  • Maintains a library of CAW databases.
  • Assists in the documentation of CAW databases.
  • Co-ordinates CAW database requirements and tool developments with service providers.
  • Co-ordinates with systems engineers on the use of new simulation releases.
  • Provides wargaming planning support to event project teams.
  • Acts as the knowledge base for wargaming databases-related issues.
Required Experience
  • Four years’ experience in relational data base management systems.
  • Four years’ experience in software design or computer programming in a high level language.
  • Four years’ experience in developing technical policy level documents.
  • Four years’ experience in common Internet protocols and management and diagnosis software (ftp, telnet, etc.) and simulation concepts for time representation, entity representation, data management and interoperability and the design of simulation verification and validation processes.
  • Five years of relevant experience (desirable).
  • Knowledge of NATO IS and networks (desirable).
  • Two years’ experience in the preparation and execution of computer assisted exercises (desirable).
  • Two years’ experience in creating, managing, and modifying databases for constructive military simulation systems, preferably Joint Conflict And Tactical Simulation, Joint Theatre Level Simulation and Virtual Battle Space models (desirable).
  • Knowledge of military functions, units, systems and modes of operation at the tactical and operational level of warfare (desirable).
  • Supervisory experience in a technical field (desirable).
  • Up-to-date knowledge of emerging Modelling& Simulation technologies (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the theory, methodology and technologies pertaining to computer assisted exercises (desirable).
  • Previous relevant experience in an international organization, preferably NATO (desirable).
Qualifications
  • Higher Secondary education and completed higher vocational training leading to a formal technical or professional certification with 3 years function related experience, or Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 5 years post related experience.
  • Masters’ degree in computer science, operations research, or related subject (desirable).
  • NCI Academy Course: 3123 PostgreSQL Administration (desirable).

Remuneration
