Overview
The intern will support the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in its mission to protect human rights. The role involves monitoring and analyzing developments in Myanmar, drafting reports, and supporting engagement with UN human rights mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze developments and trends (i.e. human rights, politics and conflict) in Myanmar
- Research and draft internal and external notes and reports
- Prepare daily news updates with information on the human rights situation in the region
- Support the engagement with the UN human rights mechanisms, including Special Procedures and Treaty Bodies
- Assist with the organization of workshops and seminars
- Maintain and develop information and resource tools
- Participate and take notes in meetings/conferences
- Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent)
- Be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Programme.
- A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
