Overview

The internship supports the United Nations Information Centre in Prague with strategic communication priorities and administration. The role involves disseminating UN information materials and bringing the United Nations closer to the people it serves.


Key Responsibilities
  • - Assisting in maintaining UNIC digital communication channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), adapting social media assets in Canva, designing and posting Instagram and Facebook stories, subtitling videos;
  • - Assisting in editing/adapting content of UNIC Prague’s website;
  • - Maintaining database of social media visuals and other graphical elements in Trello;
  • - Assisting in maintaining UNIC contact database (MS Excel, Mailchimp);
  • - Translating and editing (English-Czech and v. v.);
  • - Assisting in organizing UNIC’s public events (education programmes, seminars, conferences, street festivals, job fairs, etc.);
  • - Assisting with media monitoring;
  • - Assisting in responding to public inquiries and media communication;
  • - Assisting with logistics and administrative agenda;
  • - Assisting with secretarial functions (incoming mail, phone calls, emails).
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Fluency in spoken and written Czech is also required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is desirable.
Contract Duration
3 to 6 months maximum

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
