Overview

The role provides strategic, managerial, technical, and operational support to implement WFP’s Privacy Programme, ensuring coherence and quality of privacy initiatives across Headquarters, Regional Offices, and Country Offices.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or support the development, rollout, and enhancement of WFP’s global Privacy Programme.
  • Manage strategic planning, coordination, and monitoring of the GPO management plan, work plan, service catalog, and privacy-related corporate priorities.
  • Translate privacy and data protection principles into operational models, processes, KPIs, training, and tools.
  • Support the design, operationalization, and refinement of privacy governance structures and risk management tools.
  • Define and manage monitoring, reporting, and accountability mechanisms for privacy compliance.
  • Lead the integration of privacy-by-design approaches within WFP operations and systems.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure consistent operationalization of privacy standards.
  • Facilitate missions, workshops, trainings, governance meetings, and donor consultations.
  • Provide expert guidance on humanitarian data protection risks, governance models, and operational controls.
  • Manage the production of reports, analyses, briefs, policies, and presentations.
  • Coordinate data gathering for privacy reporting and oversight.
  • Identify risks to privacy project delivery and propose mitigation measures.
  • Capture lessons learned and maintain privacy institutional documentation.
  • Ensure effective onboarding, capacity building, and dissemination of privacy tools, processes, and guidelines.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality and WFP data protection requirements.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.
Required Experience
  • At least 8 years of progressively responsible professional experience in programme, project management, Data protection, Privacy, including advisory work for senior leadership.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing or maturing Global Privacy and Data Protection compliance programs and risk management tools and monitoring mechanisms in large corporations.
  • Experience in large humanitarian settings, with demonstrated understanding of operational constraints, protection considerations and humanitarian principles.
  • Working in a global, large-scale, complex, and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience working autonomously with minimal supervision and as part of a team, well as to cooperate within a team, across different regions and time zones.
Qualifications
  • Advanced university degree in relevant discipline (including but not limited to Law, International Relations, Economics, Business Administration, Project Management, Information Technology) or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience.
  • Certifications in Privacy and Data Protection is desirable.
  • Knowledge of international security management systems industry standards (ISO 27001, ISO 27701, NIST…) is desirable.

• Fluency (level C) in English language. • Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language).
