Overview

Intern to support the Project Implementation Coordination area, assisting with portfolio management, project follow-up, and the production of tools and documents that support the operational effectiveness of the office.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development, updating and maintenance of the portfolio management platform (Plataforma de Implementación Conjunta).
  • Assist in the follow-up and monitoring of project implementation milestones, outputs, and timelines across the office’s active portfolio.
  • Provide support in the preparation of project synthesis documents.
  • Support the programmatic coordination of joint missions across projects, including preparation of mission scopes, work agendas, and substantive follow-up documentation to capture agreements and next steps.
  • Support the preparation and follow-up of coordination meetings.
  • Support the project implementation coordinator with substantive knowledge, providing recommendations and input for further optimization of the area.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Interest in urban development, sustainable cities, housing, resilience, public space or international development is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Preferred areas of study: Urban Planning, International Development, Public Administration, Political Science, Project Management, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Geography, or a related field is required. In addition,applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, SharePoint, Canva and MS Teams. Knowledge of HTML, data visualization tools, or project management software is desirable. Knowledge in automating data-related processes and workflows is desirable.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
