Overview
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking interns to support the Consumer Information Area of Excellence within the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP) Secretariat. The role aims to accelerate the transition towards sustainable consumption and production policies and practices by increasing the availability of reliable information for consumers.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the implementation of projects and initiatives within the Consumer Information Area of Excellence, preparing documents and liaising with contacts from partner organizations.
- Assisting with research and data collection on themes related to consumer information, ecolabelling, digital product passports, and product sustainability information.
- Supporting day-to-day activities of the coordination desk of the Consumer Information Programme on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CI-SCP).
- Supporting the successful organization and coordination of the programme’s events.
- Supporting outreach activities to promote knowledge products, such as webinars and other events.
- Assisting with communication efforts including support for presentations, articles, social media posts, and general awareness raising materials.
- Supporting the development and regular updates of website content.
- Supporting the development of the bimonthly consumer information newsletter.
- Supporting the continuous mapping of relevant organizations aligned with the programme’s vision, identifying strategic entry points for engagement and keeping a dynamic database of priority stakeholders.
- Supporting other tasks associated with the Consumer Information Area of Excellence, as needed and directed by the supervising staff member.
- Supporting SDG 12.1 indicator progress reporting and contributing to implementing activities within the Skills & Lifestyle Area of Excellence, with a particular focus on the Sustainable Tourism programme and overall communications.
Required Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
Qualifications
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- Preferred area of study: A degree programme in environmental studies, sustainable development, communications, media studies, international relations, journalism, information and knowledge management, or any related field.
