Overview
The Migration Health Physician will be responsible for providing medical care in IOM clinics and assisting in health-care activities delivered to migrant beneficiaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing medical history and other medical information.
- Monitoring vital signs and enquiring about symptoms.
- Conducting physical examinations.
- Reviewing x-rays, laboratory reports, and other investigation results.
- Prescribing treatment regimes.
- Providing information and counselling to clients and family members.
- Organizing follow-up as necessary.
- Ensuring proper documentation of patient consultations.
- Assisting in facilitating referrals and transportation of critical cases.
- May act as a medical escort for unwell patients.
- Assisting national staff and providing technical support.
- Informing secondary referral centres about referred cases.
- Assisting in the maintenance of medical equipment.
- Undertaking regular duty travel and assisting in planning field activities.
- Supporting monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Submitting daily reports and feedback to the supervisor.
- Liaising and coordinating with local government and health authorities.
- Assisting with project monitoring and identifying health needs.
- Taking part in coordination meetings, workshops, training events, and conferences.
- Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience
- At least 2 years of clinical medical experience following completion of MD/BBBS.
- Previous experience in health-related programming, especially with UN agencies or INGOs.
- Knowledge of and at least 2 years of experience in working in the field within the public health sector and medical emergencies is an advantage.
- Previous experience in project development at an international organization is an advantage.
- Trauma management experience is an advantage.
Qualifications
- Completed university degree in Medicine from an accredited medical institution (MD/MBBS).
- Current license to practice medicine in the country.
