Overview

Support UNICEF’s strategic coordination efforts on the implementation of the UNSDCF with sister UN agencies in Uganda. This includes convening and coordinating programme teams towards UNSDCF common planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting requirements.


Key Responsibilities
  • Leads the coordination, quality review, and finalization of UNICEF inputs to One UN Workplan/Joint Programmes.
  • Provides quality assurance for all UNICEF inputs across UNSDCF Outcomes and Outputs.
  • Provides strategic and sound technical inputs towards UN monitoring and evaluation initiatives.
  • Responsible for all Knowledge Management (KM) efforts towards UNICEF’s contribution to the UNSDCF.
  • Effectively monitors UNICEF’s contributions to integrated programme approaches.
  • Supports UNICEF senior management in coordination efforts bringing together collaborative efforts of participating UN agencies.
  • Provides strategic support to the UNICEF Deputy Representative in meetings with UN agencies.
  • Provides technical advice and support to the UNICEF Chairs on consultations with the government and donors.
  • Supports the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) Programme and Operations Management Team.
  • Supports various national and UN meetings as well as regional coordination of UN activities.
  • Provides technical support and/or written guidance to key UNICEF staff / Chairs on policies, strategies, best practices, and approaches on integration.
  • Participates in strategic discussions, meetings, and workshops and supports the drafting of evidence-based papers.
  • Submits and prepares updates and reports to UNICEF Management and Section Chiefs.
  • Builds and strengthens strategic partnerships for UNICEF through networking and advocacy with UN system agencies.
  • Participates in inter-agency discussions and planning.
  • Collaborates with inter-agency partners and colleagues in the UNSDCF planning and preparation of programmes and projects.
Required Experience
  • 7 years of relevant experience in a United Nations (UN) system agency or organization is considered an asset. Professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required:
  • Social development programme planning
  • Communication for development
  • Public advocacy
  • Other related areas
Qualifications

Master's degree in Development Planning, Social Sciences, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, or another relevant technical field.
