Overview
The Finance Assistant will be responsible for providing specialized tasks in finance functions, ensuring accurate and timely delivery in compliance with UNICEF financial rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit invoices for payment processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Initiate correspondence to verify data or obtain additional documentation.
- Maintain liaison with local banks on bank charges, remittances, or payments.
- Prepare bank reconciliation and support management of office bank accounts.
- Assist with preparation of income reports and compilation of data.
- Maintain financial records and monitoring systems.
- Provide support in month-end and year-end account closure.
- Assist in the monthly review of outstanding GL account items.
- Support the preparation of recurring financial reports and ad-hoc analyses.
- Assist the Finance Officer with monitoring fund utilization.
- Maintain filing for transactional records and documents.
- Support improvement of financial processes and developing SOPs.
- Act as alternate to the Senior Finance Associate.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years of clerical experience in finance, accounting, auditing, and banking is required.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
Qualifications
- Secondary Education in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance and any other related fields.
- A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may replace 3 years of related work experience.
- A Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) may replace an additional 2 years.
