Overview

The Programme Management Officer will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programmes, operations, and activities in an assigned functional area.


Key Responsibilities
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects.
  • Monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation.
  • Reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues and proposes corrective actions.
  • Performs consulting assignments by planning and facilitating workshops and assisting in developing action plans.
  • Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources.
  • Assists in policy development, including review and analysis of issues and trends.
  • Undertakes survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses.
  • Prepares written outputs such as draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies.
  • Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings.
  • Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.
  • Participates in or leads field missions.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget and funding.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring the office’s work programs and budgets.
  • Undertakes actions related to the administration of the office’s human resource activities.
Required Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, operations, finance, human resources management or related area is required. Experience working in an international or regional context, in support of United Nations programmes/projects or similar initiatives, is required. Experience coordinating activities related to budget and funding processes such as project submissions, reporting and budget preparation is desirable. Experience in monitoring and analysing programme/project implementation, including identifying issues and proposing corrective actions is desirable.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
