Overview

The Associate Administrative Officer will be responsible for supporting the UN Partnerships' human resource activities, budget and finance, and general administration. The role aims to facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of Sustainable Development Goals-focused programmes and initiatives.


Key Responsibilities
  • Undertakes actions related to the administration of human resource activities and supports governance and human resource issues.
  • Provides information regarding conditions of service, duties, responsibilities, privileges, and entitlements.
  • Provides information to inter-governmental bodies on staffing needs.
  • Assists in developing the work program and budget.
  • Monitors budget/work program and reallocates resources as necessary.
  • Supervises support staff as required.
  • Works with key clients to facilitate programme development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Performs other related administrative, project management, and partnership duties, including outreach and communications, operational travel, monitoring and evaluation of projects, accounts and payments, space planning, and office technology needs.
Required Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in administration, finance, accounting, human resources management or related area is required. No experience is required for candidates who have passed the Young Professionals Programme Examination/United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P). Experience administering donor-funded, grant-making programmes including negotiating project documents and reviewing project budgets is required. Experience in complex project monitoring and evaluation is required. Experience in administration of job classification, recruitment and contracts is required.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in business or public administration, finance, law or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A first-level university degree and no experience will be accepted for candidates who have passed the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P).
