Overview
Performs specialized tasks in accounting and finance functions under supervision. Works as a focal point for submitting country office invoices and payment requests to the Global Shared Service Center.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and verify invoices for accuracy, correctness, coding, and completeness, including checking funding availability.
- Act as a focal point for the Global Shared Service Center (GSSC) in Budapest for submitting country office invoices, payment requests, and accounting cases.
- Follow up on banking issues, request replenishments for bank accounts, and resolve reconciling items from monthly bank reconciliations.
- Check Direct Cash Transfer (DCT) requests, liquidations, and reclassifications.
- Participate in HACT assurance activities by conducting spot checks for Implementing Partners (IP).
- Perform monthly payroll activities, including identifying funding shortages and confirming payment accuracy.
- Analyze open items in General Ledger account balances as part of monthly closure activities.
- Submit Fixed Assets disposal transactions to GSSC.
- Submit monthly bank reconciliation needed sheets for GSSC and ensure completion of the bank reconciliation report.
- Review requests for change of funding source and other adjustments and submit them to GSSC.
- Assist higher-level officers in accounts maintenance and provide reports on financial status, procedures, costs, expenditures, and potential funding problems.
- Support HACT assurance activities (spot checks) to implementing partners.
- Monitor the petty cash account, perform transactions, and complete monthly reconciliation and cash count.
Required Experience
- 6 years of relevant work experience in accounting and finance is required.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
Qualifications
Completion of secondary education is required. A bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in finance, accounting, economics and business administration or any field relevant to the position may replace three years of related work experience. A master’s degree may replace an additional two years.
