Overview

This position supports the Statistics and Data Division in data collection, analysis, and dissemination related to climate change, environment, and sustainable development. The role involves assisting in the organization of workshops and the development of statistical guidelines.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in training and technical support on data collection programmes, country practices and other related information in the area of climate change, environment and sustainable development
  • Assists in the organization of workshops, seminars, working groups, expert meeting and technical assistance activities.
  • Assists in the development or revision of guidelines, tools, e-learning resources, standards on statistical concepts, definitions and classifications by performing methodological research.
  • Prepares draft technical documents for international, intergovernmental and expert group meetings and assists in drafting relevant reports and communication materials.
  • Guides, trains and supervises general service and professional staff in the function.
  • Contributes to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
  • Assists in designing, organizing, planning and managing the collection, evaluation, analysis, compilation and dissemination of statistical data.
  • Assists in developing, implementing and managing statistical database(s).
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in statistics, finance or accounting is required. One year or more of experience in data analytics or related field is desirable.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Master's or Doctorate degree, or equivalent) in statistics, or mathematics, economics, sociology or related field is required. A first-level degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programmes in data analytics, business analytics or data science programmes an advantage.
