Overview
The National GIS and Data Specialist will provide GIS and mapping support for land consolidation pilot projects, build and maintain the project's geospatial database, and coordinate with relevant units and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide GIS and mapping support for land consolidation pilot projects, including data management and map preparation for landownership inventory, landowner interviews, land valuation, and land re-allotment planning.
- Build and maintain a geospatial database for the project, conduct data analysis, and produce thematic maps.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of GIS and Land Use Planning Specialists and Local Land Administration Specialists.
- Provide guidance and technical support to GIS and Land Use Planning Specialists and Local Land Administration Specialists.
- Serve as the primary liaison for communication and coordination on geospatial information and data with other units and institutions.
- Coordinate with GRAIL project subcontractors to ensure alignment with land consolidation efforts.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the practical application of GIS across various sectors.
- Experience in managing and supervising project teams.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and large-scale projects will be an asset.
- Experience working with land tenure and land register data and cadastre maps.
- Experience in working with international organizations, government agencies and development partners is an asset.
- Working experience at a UN organization is an asset.
- Experience working with rural communities and farmers is an asset.
Qualifications
• University degree in Geomatics, Land Administration, Geography, Civil Engineering or a related field.
