Overview
The Child Protection Specialist (MHPSS) contributes to the planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of Child Protection interventions within the Ebola response, focusing on psychosocial support, case management, and strengthening the social service workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision of psychosocial support (MHPSS) for affected and/or at-risk children and families, healthcare workers, and community-level psychoeducation.
- Case management and referral for affected and at-risk children and families, including interim care, reunification, psychosocial support, and access to specialized services.
- Strengthening of the social service workforce system, including capacity-building of social workers, para-social staff, and psychologists.
- Strengthening of the social service workforce and case management systems.
- Psychosocial response (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support – MHPSS).
- Intersectoral coordination and integration.
- Capacity-building initiatives.
- Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
Required Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in child protection in emergency settings, MHPSS, case management, and social work.
- Experience in a public health emergency context is considered an asset.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
Qualifications
An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in one of the following fields: social sciences, human rights, sociology, psychology, or a related field.
