Overview

The Intern - Public Health will support the implementation and coordination of public health activities under IOM Jordan’s Country Programme. They will assist in conducting research and desk reviews on topics related to migrant and refugee inclusive health systems, climate change and health, border health, and universal health coverage.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct desk research on migration health, public health, climate change and health, and humanitarian issues.
  • Collect, organize, and summarize qualitative and quantitative information related to public health interventions in Jordan.
  • Assist in the preparation of programme documents, donor reports, presentations, training materials, meeting minutes, and other knowledge and communication products.
  • Support stakeholder mapping and coordination with government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs, academic institutions, and other partners.
  • Support the organization and follow-up of trainings, workshops, meetings, and awareness activities.
  • Provide administrative, logistical, research, and reporting support to the Public Health team.
Required Experience

Previous academic, volunteer, or internship experience in public health, migration, humanitarian assistance, or community-based activities is an advantage; Experience in supporting research, drafting and editing reports, presentations, or communication materials related to public health or humanitarian topics is desirable; Experience from a UN agency, International Organization (IO), Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), university project, or student initiative is considered an advantage; Previous exposure to project support activities, event organization, stakeholder coordination, or monitoring and reporting is an asset; Knowledge and/or experience related to the Middle East region is an advantage.

Qualifications

Applicants must satisfy one of the following educational criteria: Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in Public Health, International Relations, Political or Social Sciences, Humanitarian Affairs, Economic Development or any other relevant area from an accredited institution; or, Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or graduated within the last 12 months with a Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Health, International Relations, Political or Social Sciences, Humanitarian Affairs, Economic Development or any other relevant area from an accredited institution.

Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.

Remuneration
Depending on experience and location, IOM provides a small monthly stipend to help offset costs.
