Overview
The Programme Manager will lead the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of programme activities related to the integration of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and climate action processes in the Americas and Caribbean region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the coordination, implementation and monitoring of programme activities around the integration of DRR and climate action processes, liaising with local, national and regional DRR stakeholders in the Americas and Caribbean region.
- Develop, implement and evaluate the assigned programmes/projects, besides monitoring and analysing programme/project development and implementation.
- Research, analyze and present information gathered from diverse sources. Lead research on wildfire and extreme heat hazard and risk modelling with a clear focus on disaggregated data.
- Support the engagement with the Regional Science and Technology Advisory Group (RSTAG) to strengthen the climate risk components.
- Support the review and promotion of coherence analyses between DRR and climate change adaptation plans.
- Organize and prepare written outputs (e.g., proposals, work-plans, draft back-ground papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications).
- Provide substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc.
- Initiate and coordinate outreach activities; conduct training workshops, seminars, etc.; prepare and deliver presentations on assigned topics/activities.
- Coordinate activities related to proposal development, work-planning, budget funding and preparation of related documents/reports.
- Support with related administrative and logistical work when needed.
Required Experience
- 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in: Monitoring, evaluation and knowledge management. International organizations, cooperation, civil society organizations and/or academia. Good understanding of Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation plans is desirable. Climate financing is desirable. Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction is desirable. Previous experience with UNDRR’s CRM Initiative is an asset. Working experience with UN agencies at regional level in the Americas and the Caribbean is an asset. Working in a multicultural context is an asset.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, International Relations, Business Administration, Disaster Risk Reduction, Disaster Risk Management, Sustainable Development, or similar.
