Overview

The Associate Peace and Development Officer (PDO) will support the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Fiji with activities related to peacebuilding and conflict prevention, contributing to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with research, information-gathering, and analysis on peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
  • Gather and process data relevant to the UN’s role and activities in Fiji and the subregion.
  • Support analysis of the national context and report on peace and security issues.
  • Assist in identifying entry points for building national capacities for conflict prevention.
  • Support programmatic engagement with national stakeholders on social cohesion, dialogue, and consensus building.
  • Assist in exploring engagement opportunities with government, civil society, and other counterparts.
  • Map and analyze civil society actors’ capacities for peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
  • Support facilitation of links between local initiatives and national-level institutions.
  • Support external coordination between government, civil society, private sector, and international stakeholders.
  • Support M&E of Peacebuilding Fund projects, including data collection, processing, and analysis.
  • Contribute to knowledge management and sharing of good practices.
  • Assist with organizing meetings, consultations, and engagement processes.
Required Experience
  • 1 month relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience (up to 3 years) in: Peace / Peacebuilding, Conflict prevention, Programme/project development and management.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies/International Relations or Studies/Political Science/Development Studies/Public Policy or other related social sciences.
