Overview

Internship opportunity focused on Sustainable Development Goals outreach and partnerships within the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting in drafting concept notes for events targeting stakeholder mobilization towards SDG engagement.
  • Contributing to the implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies and plans.
  • Engaging collaboratively in research and analysis, drafting and reviewing documents.
  • Assisting with the organization of in person, virtual and hybrid events and training sessions.
  • Contributing to the review of SDG Partnerships and follow up on their implementation.
  • Supporting research for the preparation of papers and reports related to the SDGs.
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement in intergovernmental events and Conferences.
  • Attending intergovernmental meetings, expert events and webinars and preparing summaries.
  • Provision of general office support.
  • Supporting staff with outreach engagement, including communications and social media.
  • Participating in person and virtual UN Headquarters events, as appropriate.
  • Providing support to staff with website content updates.
  • Other ad hoc related activities to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Required Experience

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme. A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Be computer literate in standard software applications.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
Contract Duration
2-6 months
Work Modality
The hybrid or remote setting of the internship may be considered based on the request by the successful candidates.
Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
