Overview

The Supply Chain Officer will be responsible for overseeing supply chain activities to deliver goods and services to beneficiaries in a timely and cost-effective manner.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct strategic planning for supply chain activities.
  • Conduct logistics capacity assessment and market research.
  • Supervise and manage supply chain management related tasks.
  • Lead and supervise supply chain activities including planning, procurement, warehouse management, transport, distribution, fleet, assets, facilities management, and reporting.
  • Identify and optimize supply chain processes.
  • Review procurement requests and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Solicit bids, quotations, and tender documents.
  • Liaise with programme management on procurement processes.
  • Establish and manage internal control mechanisms for Supply Chain Management.
  • Monitor maintenance and repair of office facilities.
  • Supervise, train, and guide SCM staff.
  • Represent the CO in UN inter-agency meetings related to supply chain management.
Required Experience
  • Five years of relevant professional experience with a Master's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field; or seven years of relevant professional experience with a University degree in the above fields.
  • Experience in managing diverse procurement and logistics operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in training and managing large teams of co-workers, managing vendors and suppliers.
Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or University degree in the above fields.

Languages Required
English is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
At least a working knowledge of another language (including one of the six official UN languages, and/or a language that may be widely spoken in the country context) is desirable. Working knowledge of Arabic, and of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an advantage.
Contract Duration
1 year with possibility of extension
