Overview

This is an Online Volunteering assignment to support UNDP Kenya in data analysis. The role aims to enhance the extraction of meaningful insights from datasets, develop visual dashboards, and support data quality assurance efforts.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Assist in cleaning, transforming, and analyzing data to generate actionable insights.
  • Contributes to the automation and optimization of reporting processes.
  • Connect to multiple data sources (Excel, SQL databases, APIs, cloud services, etc.).
  • Build interactive dashboards and reports using: Charts (bar, line, pie, Tables and matrices, Slicers and filters, Maps and KPIs)
  • Design for user experience: consistent layout, intuitive navigation, color themes.
  • Schedule data refreshes via Power BI Service.
  • Provide general administrative and ICT support to the ICT unit as required. Expected Outputs:
  • Functional and user-friendly Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Cleaned and well-documented datasets.
  • Documentation of data sources, transformations, and business logic.
  • Weekly status updates and a final presentation/report summarizing work completed.
  • Share dashboards with stakeholders and manage access via workspaces and row-level security (RLS).
Required Experience
  • Familiarity with Power BI and basic understanding of DAX and Power Query (M language).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic SQL.
  • UN (United Nations) Experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in Data Analysis using Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of data cleaning and transformation tools (Power BI, Power Query, Excel, SQL, ETL Tools) is an advantage.
Qualifications

A degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering Data Science or a related field. (such as a master’s programme, or higher)
