Overview

The Project Manager will lead the implementation of the Mayors Challenge in Visakhapatnam, supporting the Vizag-Prajamukhi Urban Living Lab (V-PULL) initiative. The role involves developing the project's vision, monitoring and evaluation framework, and funding strategy, while engaging with stakeholders and overseeing project delivery.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of the Mayors Challenge in Visakhapatnam, including strategic planning, decision-making, execution, and review to deliver target metrics.
  • Approve and supervise elaboration of Terms of References for procurement processes and supervise service providers.
  • Coordinate additional project staff, evaluate team performance, and provide guidance.
  • Identify project sustainability alternatives and prepare an exit strategy.
  • Support the V-PULL’s Margadarshak Group in planning V-PULL’s growth strategy.
  • Oversee, support, and handhold the Core Working Team (CWT).
  • Manage and nurture relationships with project partners, including academia, NGOs, business entities, and government departments.
  • Coordinate with the Commissioner & Director Municipal Administration Office at the State level to explore opportunities for sharing learnings.
  • Participate in public webinars to present project achievements and challenges.
  • Elaborate knowledge products about project contributions to SDGs and policy briefs on lessons learnt.
Required Experience

Minimum of five (5) years (with master’s degree) or seven (7) years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant professional experience, with at least two (2) working experience in the field of environment, WASH (Water Sanitation and Hygiene) and climate resilience. Demonstrated experience working with local or regional governments in India is required. Project management experience that includes coordination with different stakeholders is required.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (master’s Degree or equivalent) in Public Policy, Public Administration, Development Studies, Urban Planning, Environmental Management, Environmental Science or a related field is required. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas stated above, in combination with additional 2 years of qualifying experience, will be given due consideration in lieu of master´s degree.
