Overview

Provide programmatic and substantive support for the implementation and follow-up of work on science, technology, and innovation within the ECLAC Production, Productivity and Management Division.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in the organization and implementation of expert group meetings, policy dialogues, seminars, regional workshops, and other events related to science, technology and innovation, technology extension, and entrepreneurship policies.
  • Provides substantive support to intergovernmental processes, including the Conference on Science, Innovation and ICT of ECLAC.
  • Contributes to analytical work and knowledge generation on productive development policies, innovation policies and technology extension services in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Supports the preparation and implementation of technical cooperation activities.
  • Conducts research, compiles information and contributes to the preparation of publications and other knowledge products related to science, technology and innovation policies.
  • Participates in international, regional or national meetings related to productive development, innovation and technological transformation.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Required Experience

A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis, policy formulation, application of economic principles in development programmes or related areas is desirable. Prior experience working in Latin American and Caribbean countries is desirable. Ability to apply economic theories and concepts in different sectors of economic and sustainable development, particularly in the fields of science, technology and innovation, technology extension services, entrepreneurship, and productive development (industrial) policies is desirable.

Qualifications

University degree in economics, engineering, public policy or related disciplines is required. An advanced university degree (Master's or Doctorate degree or equivalent) is desirable.
