Overview

To assess and cost a rooftop solarization scheme, document its benefits, challenges, and lessons learned to inform future decision-making and potential scale-up.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop methodology, workplan, tools, and data request list.
  • Plan for data collection in the field.
  • Verify system configuration and performance indicators.
  • Review installation quality and safety practices.
  • Document operational routines.
  • Validate baseline and post-install electricity consumption/costs.
  • Establish grid outage frequency and duration.
  • Assess use as a STEM learning tool.
  • Assess environmental and energy resilience benefits.
  • Develop a life-cycle costing spreadsheet.
  • Calculate simple payback and compare with tariff-based electricity cost.
  • Summarize what worked and what did not.
  • Provide actionable recommendations for technical specifications, O&M governance/budgeting, capacity building, STEM integration package, SOPs, and monitoring templates.
  • Assess institutional arrangements.
  • Document logistical, procurement, transportation, installation, and maintenance challenges and lessons.
Required Experience

Minimum 7 years’ experience across at least two areas: solar PV assessment/design review; life-cycle costing/financial analysis (payback, LCOE).

Qualifications

Masters Degree in Renewable Energy/Engineering/Energy Economics/Education/Environmental Studies or related field.

The consultant is expected to use his/her computer and work from his/her own workstation and arrange his/her own logistics for the travel.
Remuneration
