Overview

Provide administrative, operational, and technical support to activities related to counter-trafficking, smuggling of migrants, border governance, family reunification, and resettlement within IOM Brazil.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support operational, administrative, and coordination aspects of activities related to Counter-Trafficking (CT) and Smuggling of Migrants (SoM), Family Reunification (FR), Resettlement and Movement Management (RMM), and Integrated Border Governance (IBG).
  • Assist in the implementation of migration management, migrant protection, family reunification, and resettlement-related activities.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and conferences, and maintain liaison with government counterparts, UN agencies, implementing partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation, drafting, editing, proofreading, and translation of reports, briefing notes, presentations, correspondence, and other institutional and operational documents.
  • Assist in the preparation of progress reports and meeting summaries.
  • Undertake duty travel and site visits to support programme implementation activities.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for the organization and implementation of trainings, workshops, missions, and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Support data collection, organization, systematization, and information management activities.
  • Support administrative and financial processes related to programme implementation.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree; Or a Master's degree.
  • Experience supporting projects and activities related to migration management, counter-trafficking and smuggling of migrants in coordination with government counterparts, UN agencies and civil society organizations.
  • Experience in technical writing, reporting, drafting and reviewing institutional and operational documents.
  • Professional experience in migration, humanitarian or protection-related contexts.
  • Good knowledge of IOM mandate and migration-related activities implemented in Brazil, particularly in the areas of protection, resettlement and border governance.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with government institutions, UN agencies, partners and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Law, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Public Policy, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • Or Master's degree in International Relations, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Public Policy, Political Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.

Languages Required
Fluency in Portuguese and English is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
Advanced Spanish and/or French is desirable.
Contract Duration
Initial Contract Duration: 3 months. Contract Type: Special Short term ungraded (Up to 9 months)
