Overview

The role supports the review and analysis of financial data, assists Country Offices and the Global Shared Services Centre in resolving accounting issues, and monitors transactions for accurate financial reporting and compliance.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support and guidance to Country Offices, Regional Offices, and GSSC on accounting and financial matters.
  • Resolve issues and enhancements in WAVE and related processes.
  • Provide guidance on financial reporting, accounting compliance, and Oracle ERP financial processes.
  • Review and resolve tickets assigned through the Financial Coordination Platform.
  • Recommend improvements in internal controls and accounting practices.
  • Review and analyze trial balances of assigned COs.
  • Coordinate findings with offices and monitor responses.
  • Escalate material findings and provide status updates.
  • Evaluate and identify exceptions, deviations, errors, and critical issues.
  • Monitor checklist reviews and coordinate timely completion.
  • Assess the performance of Offices and related risk factors.
  • Review and analyze month-end balances of assigned COs.
  • Check the completeness of accounting returns.
  • Assist in monitoring clearing accounts and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Provide guidance on closing of accounts and analyze issues encountered.
  • Assist in preparing information for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain records, monitoring files, and tracking tools.
  • Provide training to COs finance staff and newly hired ACU staff.
  • Travel to COs, ROs, and HQ as may be required.
  • Perform other accounting functions as may be required.
Required Experience
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or six (6) years of relevant experience with a high school diploma.
  • Experience in accounting, financial monitoring, or administrative finance support.
  • Experience with financial systems or ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) is an advantage.
  • Experience working in international organizations or UN agencies is an advantage.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field from an accredited academic institution, orHigh school diploma.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent is an advantage.
