Overview
The Head, Strategic Communications leads a team to support NATO’s role in Ukraine, promoting the NATO Representation to Ukraine and its activities to internal and external audiences. The incumbent advises on strategic communication issues and collaborates with Ukrainian government counterparts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop expertise within the NRU communications team.
- Support the development and implementation of advisory and capacity building support to Ukrainian authorities in Strategic Communications.
- Analyse Ukrainian needs and design programmes.
- Contribute to advancing NATO efforts to counter information threats.
- Act as a role model of inclusive leadership.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and training opportunities.
- Oversee all strategic communications programmes.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the NRU’s Communication team.
- Oversee finances related to NRU communications activities.
- Develop and maintain contacts with key relevant stakeholders.
- Leverage data and insights from NATO OSC and relevant Allies.
- Oversee media visits and activities.
- Participate in NATO sponsored seminars/events.
- Represent NATO on various communications boards/mechanisms.
- Oversee the dissemination of NATO publications, audio-visual productions and information in Ukraine.
- Advise NATO HQ in the elaboration of products for the Ukrainian market.
- Advise on and expand NATO information and communications outreach via online, digital and social media.
- Provide regular analysis of the full information environment, including local media landscape and political developments in Ukraine.
- Perform any other related duty as assigned.
Required Experience
- At least 7 years of relevant professional experience, out of which at least 3 years’ experience in managing and leading a team.
- Experience in media and digital outreach, communications campaigns, developing and using information environment assessment.
- An excellent knowledge of international affairs, and security and defence policies.
Qualifications
A university degree in a relevant discipline (social sciences, international relations, strategic communications).
