Overview

Internship opportunity within the Population and Social Statistics Section of the Statistics Division of ESCAP, focusing on assisting with various statistical areas and supporting capacity-building and communication activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with work on gender statistics, population and housing census, migration, displacement and statelessness statistics, disability statistics, population registers, citizen data, the regional Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) initiative, and other related areas.
  • Conduct literature reviews on statistical frameworks, indicators, case studies and country practices.
  • Contribute to drafting background papers, presentations, blogs and technical documents.
  • Support the organization and servicing of meetings and events.
  • Provide support to capacity-building activities for countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Support communication activities related to the work of the section.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience

No working experience is required.

Qualifications

a.) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b.) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset.
Contract Duration
6 months, 18 January 2027
Work Modality
in-person, in Bangkok duty station
Remuneration
The internship is UNPAID. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
