Overview
The Housing and Logistics Specialist will assist refugees with their resettlement experience by overseeing the provision, procurement, and quality control of resettlement goods and services, including locating housing and ensuring clients receive appropriate furnishings.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct apartment outreach and secure housing for refugees.
- Liaise with property management organizations.
- Research vendors for housing and household supplies.
- Coordinate temporary housing if permanent housing is unavailable.
- Provide housing services to clients.
- Collaborate with Caseworkers for smooth transitions.
- Organize and lead housing setup, including lease signing and landlord communication.
- Provide orientation and ongoing housing case management support.
- Arrange logistics for new arrival home setups, including furniture orders, utility connections, and home safety inspections.
- Purchase supply list items and/or secure household donations.
- Arrange and request payments for housing.
- Administer state/county rental support programs.
- Visit apartment complexes to ensure minimum standards are met.
- Prepare and complete pre-arrival and post-arrival documentation.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of leases.
- Complete case notes related to housing activities and ensure reporting requirements are met.
- Participate in program meetings and staff development activities.
- Supervise interns and/or volunteers.
- Work as part of a team to provide comprehensive services.
Required Experience
- Relevant work experience in housing & coordination, including outreach, advocacy, and property management highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Bay Area’s Housing regulations, landscape, and network.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
