Overview

The Community Outreach Officer (TTS) will support the implementation of community engagement, mobilization, hygiene promotion, and social and behaviour change activities for a climate-resilient WASH project.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of community engagement, mobilization, hygiene promotion, and social and behaviour change activities.
  • Work closely with communities, children and youth, people with disabilities, schools, local government, health facilities, community groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Support field-level community outreach, participatory assessments, hygiene promotion, behaviour change initiatives, community feedback and accountability mechanisms, and capacity strengthening for the sustainable management of WASH facilities.
  • Contribute to meaningful youth engagement through the Youth Advisory Panel (YAP).
  • Ensure community perspectives, concerns, feedback, risks, and learning are captured and communicated to the project team.
  • Ensure meaningful and inclusive participation of communities in WASH planning, implementation, monitoring, and sustainability.
  • Implement community-based hygiene promotion and social and behaviour change activities.
  • Maintain effective field-level coordination and relationships with communities, local government, schools, health facilities, community groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure community feedback, complaints, participatory monitoring, and accountability mechanisms are effectively implemented.
  • Support communities and WASH structures to strengthen operation, maintenance, and long-term sustainability of WASH facilities and practices.
  • Ensure safeguarding, PSHEA, and GEDSI principles are consistently integrated into community outreach and field activities.
Required Experience
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in community-based WASH, STBM, health, or development projects, preferably in rural areas.
  • Experience mobilizing communities, households, schools, and local stakeholders.
  • Experience facilitating community meetings, group discussions, awareness sessions, and participatory activities.
  • Ability to promote gender equality, disability inclusion, and safeguarding, particularly when working with children and vulnerable groups.
  • Ability to work effectively with communities from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Community Development, WASH, or a related field.
