Overview

The Movement Control Assistant is responsible for receiving and supporting cargo movement requests, assisting with passenger and crew movements, and preparing and maintaining documentation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing passenger and cargo load plans
  • Assist in the coordination of daily operations of administrative and loading staff
  • Ensure the dangerous goods are transported in accordance with international Dangerous Goods Regulations
  • Assist and supports with the liaison of contacts with port authorities and local authorities related to travel, immigration and customs issues
  • Assist in the planning and execution of military and police contingent movements
  • Prepares movement orders, collects movement information and defines requirements
  • Receives and registers cargo movement requests for air/ground transportation
  • Completes cargo and passenger manifests, waivers and other documentation
  • Arrange customs clearance and related documentation, when required
  • Informs appropriate consignees on delivery of items
  • Assist in the boards and deplanes passengers and crew
  • Checks in passengers to include manifest confirmation/amendments, baggage identification and weighing, signing of waivers and distribution of boarding passes
  • Assists with airfield and air terminal security
  • Fulfils the duties of a passenger baggage handler
  • Tracks and traces missing cargo and baggage
  • Prepares, processes and follows up on administrative arrangements with respect to official staff travel
  • Maintains Unit files as required (both in hard and soft copies), administrative instructions and other related documentation
  • Provides general support to the travel unit as required
  • Performs other duties as and when required by the supervisor
Required Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in movement control or airport operations related services or general experience in the field of passenger management and customer services, transport logistics, travel related or logistic fields or administration is required. Experience working in a United Nations common system field or other similar international organization is desirable. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams is desirable.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Valid national driving license is required.

English and Spanish are required. English UN Level II Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking. Spanish UN Level II Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking.
Languages Preferred
Either French or Creole Haiti is desirable. French UN Level II Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking. Creole Haiti UN Level I Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking.
Contract Duration
The position is available through 30 June 2027 subject to extension.
