Overview
Coordinate and implement the running of the IOM Transit Center in Yaoundé under the USRAP mission project. Manage technical aspects of Transit Center activities, including daily operations and staff scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee administrative, finance, procurement, and human resource activities.
- Coordinate refugee resettlement processing, including selection missions, medical processing, and departures.
- Liaise with refugee resettlement partners such as UNHCR, CWS/RSC Africa, USCIS, and ARRA.
- Ensure effective database tracking of refugee movements and provide periodic reporting.
- Monitor security protocols in coordination with IOM Ethiopia Security Focal Point and Security Assistant.
- Maintain relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Transit Center.
- Provide briefings to visiting donor missions on Transit Center activities.
- Oversee the daily running of the Transit Center and management of a team.
- Supervise Transit Centre activities, ensuring safety and security of refugees.
- Coordinate with Senior National Operations Officer on planning transit cases and movements.
- Liaise with the medical unit to ensure follow-up medical procedures are completed.
- Undertake IOM activities at the airport as necessary.
- Update and maintain the ITC Database and generate monthly reports.
Required Experience
- Two years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
- A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in the running of a transit Center or similar establishment.
- Minimum of two years of experience with supervision roles for tasks of a similar nature.
- Proven experience in project management, budgeting and record keeping.
- Knowledge of relevant needs assessment guidelines and templates.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Ability to develop project strategies and activities.
- Ability to build relations with local government authorities, donors, beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
- Experience working with specialized international agencies, including UN agencies, international organizations, and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
- Proficient in computer applications and Microsoft Office Applications.
- Good managerial skills and experience of handling difficult situations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related fields from an accredited academic institution; or, Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields.
