Overview

Provide psychosocial support to IOM staff in the Regional Office and Country Offices, assessing and addressing their psychological needs to mitigate stress and increase protective factors.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychosocial support to Managers and individual staff.
  • Offer a safe and confidential environment for staff to address problems.
  • Advise senior leadership on healthy work practices and staff support.
  • Deliver psychoeducational programmes and tailored workshops.
  • Develop a network of external mental health providers.
  • Provide Critical Incident Stress Management support.
  • Coordinate with UN agency Counsellors.
  • Develop tools for data collection, analysis, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Undertake duty travels to Country Offices.
  • Capture lessons learnt and best practices.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and learning activities.
  • Adhere to professional standards and Code of Ethics.
Required Experience

Minimum of five years of relevant counselling experience post licensure/certification/registration; Experience with counselling and psychosocial interventions; Experience of working with UN Agencies, International Humanitarian Organizations or Employee Assistance Programmes is essential; Demonstrated familiarity and experience with the impact of working conditions on humanitarian workers on their well-being; Familiarity or previous working experience in the Region is desirable.

Qualifications

Master's degree in clinical psychology, Counselling, Psychiatry or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or, University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience. Must possess an active license or certification or demonstrate registered membership in a legitimate professional organization in the field most relevant to their degree.

Fluency in English and French is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of another official UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
