Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for the management of projects funded by GIZ, focusing on integrated, community-led methodologies addressing economic vulnerability, mental health, and climate resilience in Alexandria.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the design and implementation of programme and operational activities.
  • Manage the grant, ensuring project and reports are delivered according to SC and donor contractual requirements.
  • Ensure effective award management system is in place.
  • Develop and implement participatory needs assessment.
  • Oversee programme implementation to ensure timely delivery of programme activities.
  • Lead and support recruitment processes.
  • Develop and implement effective safety and security procedures.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain on project’s supply chain and admin processes.
  • Manage and motivate field based staff.
  • Manage project’s financial processes.
  • Responsible for financial management of the budget.
  • Ensure expenditures are approved and in accordance with budget lines.
  • Ensure grants and contracts are managed in line with SCI’s award policies.
  • Responsible for the completion of timely reports to SC Germany and to donor.
  • Documents and shares best practices and lessons learned.
  • Ensure appropriate training/capacity strengthening for staff members, partner agencies and others.
  • Provide other technical support.
  • Oversee the identification and selection of appropriate short and long-term technical assistance.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing for the project.
  • Build and nurture effective teamwork.
  • Utilize the Performance Management System.
  • Ensure communicating and mainstreaming SCI policies and procedures.
  • Establish effective relations with local authorities and INGOs.
  • Represent SCI with the Government and local and international partners.
  • Ensure strong communication and coordination with other Save the Children teams.
  • Ensure identification of advocacy issues and development of advocacy and influencing plan.
  • Support managers in the implementation of child safeguarding policy.
  • Ensure that children’s activities are safe for children.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the implementation of the child safeguarding policy.
  • Contribute to the CO risk management process.
  • Contribute to the development of communications products.
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice.
  • Ensure the security, health and well-being of staff.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in management positions, managing integrated multi sector or multi-locations programs.
  • Strong result based management experience.
  • Budget management experience including institutional donors.
  • Demonstrable experience of MEAL and beneficiary accountability.
  • Strong experience in dealing with government officials at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Experience working through/with sub grants and partners is a requirement.
  • Experience with capacity building of local partners and communities.
Qualifications

Relevant University Degree.
