Overview
The Communication Officer contributes to designing, planning and implementing communication projects and activities in Gaza. S/he helps to position the ICRC and builds understanding and support among external audiences and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively analyses the environment in Gaza and identifies opportunities for external engagement.
- Implements communication and external engagement activities including mapping and building relationships with Actors of Influence, monitoring ICRC perception and acceptance, and representation of the ICRC.
- Contributes to defining communication objectives, strategies and plans of action.
- Supports IHL dissemination sessions and prevention-oriented activities.
- Supports networking with relevant stakeholders.
- Contributes to consolidating strategic advice for management.
- Proactively identifies and manages perception risks and impersonation cases.
- Supports environment scanning efforts, drafting of reactive lines, in-house trainings and sensitization sessions.
- Contributes to efforts to collect/generate content that raise visibility and positioning of the ICRC.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 year’s work experience in a field relevant to communication or engagement with external actors or partnership (preferably in an international organization).
- Sound awareness of the political, social and media environment in Gaza and the wider region.
Qualifications
University degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, international relations or political science.
