The Section Head (Radiation Safety and Monitoring) is responsible for managing and leading the Radiation Safety and Monitoring Section, initiating, developing, and implementing the IAEA's policy and programme on radiation protection, patient and worker radiological protection, and the IAEA's Radiation Safety Technical Services.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in radiation safety, of which at least eight should have been at a managerial level and concerned with standard setting. Broad experience in the field with proven experience in managing professional and support staff. Extensive experience of work at the international level, both in the development and in the application of safety standards. Demonstrated experience in multilateral environments or competent authorities for radiation protection is considered a strong asset.
Advanced university degree in engineering or physical/nuclear/radiological sciences. A first level university degree in engineering or physical/nuclear/radiological sciences plus two years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the advanced university degree.
