Overview
The Systems Electronic Technician ensures the maintenance and operational readiness of equipment installed at Canadian nuclear facilities and portable equipment at the Toronto Regional Office. The role provides technical support to nuclear safeguards inspectors and SGTS personnel, and may participate in equipment modification and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, service and maintain unattended radiation monitoring systems (UMS) and surveillance safeguards systems.
- Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot portable non-destructive analysis (NDA) equipment.
- Coordinate with nuclear facilities for infield activities.
- Manage inventory of resident equipment, conduct procurement, packing, shipping, inventory control, and write-off of equipment.
- Keep accurate records and inventories of all equipment.
- Prepare technical reports and perform administrative tasks.
- Provide technical support to Nuclear Safeguards Inspectors and SGTS.
Required Experience
- Minimum of seven years of relevant working experience in the domain of electronics.
- Demonstrated experience to set up, test, troubleshoot, and install electronic systems composed of process monitoring and control sensors, data acquisition components, and networking modules.
- Demonstrated experience with electrical instrumentation and network-based systems (e.g. surveillance, radiation monitoring).
- Some experience in nuclear facilities and/or radiation-controlled environment and basic knowledge of international safeguards activities an asset.
