Overview

The Programme Associate supports the Education Section by providing procedural, administrative, and operational support in developing, implementing, executing, and monitoring country programmes, ensuring timely and consistent delivery with UNICEF rules and regulations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the development of programme cooperation agreements (PCAs).
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording and administrative processing of government & NGO’s proposals and requests for direct cash transfers (DCTs).
  • Conduct programme monitoring in UNICEF focus districts for cash and supplies.
  • Help conduct regular spot checks of partner’s projects.
  • Monitor and track the efficient distribution of supplies.
  • Support the programme section in researching, compiling, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Carry out transactions in VISION ensuring programme results, activities, and programme coding are as per annual work plans (AWPs).
  • Carry out transactions in VISION pertaining to grants and programme-related items.
  • Prepare monitoring and reporting information for supervisor and team on agreed performance indicators.
  • Regularly monitor budgets and financial expenditures of the section.
  • Help prepare periodic or ad-hoc financial reports relating to country office and donors.
  • Support capacity development activities related to programme development.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of six years of administrative or clerical work experience is required.
  • Prior experience in programme support functions.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
Qualifications
  • Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the work of the organization.
  • (A bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position can substitute for three years of required experience.
  • A master’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position can substitute for five years of required experience).

Fluency in English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of Krio and other local languages of Sierra Leone is considered as an asset.
