Overview
The role supports the WFP in Guatemala to achieve sustainable and inclusive development results by investing in resilience development and nutrition-sensitive programs. The position focuses on providing technical assistance to government social protection programs and promoting transformative approaches for improved nutrition and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the planning, organization, and elaboration of the brigade's monthly activity schedule.
- Identify community leaders and actors to promote their involvement and facilitate health and nutrition interventions.
- Coordinate actions with local authorities, community leaders, and key actors to strengthen the execution of brigade activities.
- Conduct nutritional status assessments of children under five, adolescent women, pregnant and lactating women in prioritized communities.
- Collaborate in comprehensive maternal care actions, including prenatal and postnatal care.
- Review children's health cards to verify compliance with essential interventions and reinforce adequate practices through counseling.
- Administer micronutrient supplementation and deworming according to current MSPAS protocols.
- Provide counseling on feeding, care, health, and disease prevention to mothers, fathers, caregivers, and women of reproductive age.
- Reinforce adequate health and nutrition practices during individual and community care.
- Care for and safeguard equipment, materials, and supplies assigned to the brigade.
- Maintain complete and updated records in official MSPAS formats and other established instruments.
- Enter data into corresponding platforms (WFP platform) for analysis and report preparation.
- Prepare monthly reports including activities carried out, coverage, results, identified cases, referrals, and follow-up, as well as relevant findings for decision-making.
Required Experience
- 6 months of general experience.
- Experience in comprehensive health and nutrition education.
- Desirable: Experience in emergency nutrition and food and nutrition security.
- Desirable: Knowledge of the attention norms of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance and official registration instruments (SIGSA).
- Desirable: Experience in the care of acute malnutrition at the outpatient and nutritional brigade level.
- Desirable: Experience working in rural communities.
- Desirable: Previous work experience with the United Nations or other international development organizations.
- Desirable: Certificate of the 20-hour breastfeeding course.
Qualifications
- Secondary education.
- Desirable: Studies towards a degree in Nutrition or Nursing (completion of studies), or technician/diploma in Nursing.
