Overview
Provides comprehensive maternal health care services and participates in health activities within the Family Health Team Approach context.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive maternal health care services including pre-conception care, antenatal, post-natal, family planning, mental health, dental services referral, education activities and counseling.
- Performs periodic IUD insertion and checkups.
- Participates in health activities including cross cutting issues (GBV, disability....etc.).
- Maintains a high standard of infection control and manages medical waste.
- Participates and facilitates in training activities and on the job training.
- Provides services and follow up of data entry and proper recording and reporting on the electronic medical records system and required registers.
- Keeps adequate recording of received and used supplies.
- Follows up on defaulters’ patients and facilitates home-visits.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience
- At least 3 years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience in maternal and child health care and/or maternity unit/ hospital is required.
- Ability to use computer and understanding of its usage in health applications.
Qualifications
- University degree from an accredited educational institution or public midwifery institute in Midwifery (at least three years in midwifery studies).
- A valid license to practice midwifery in the country of duty station (where applicable).
- Desirable Qualifications: Use of computers and understanding health applications.
