Overview
The Humanitarian and Recovery Coordinator (HRC) leads UNFPA's Operational Hubs in Dnipro and Odesa, integrating humanitarian emergency response with early recovery initiatives. The role champions Nexus programming and ensures seamless transitions from emergency interventions to sustainable development and recovery frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Position UNFPA as a key humanitarian and recovery actor.
- Lead UNFPA teams in Op-hub areas.
- Enhance nexus and recovery planning.
- Support the shifting of focus from direct service provision to supporting greater institutionalization and sustainability.
- Update emergency preparedness plans.
- Conduct regular monitoring of ongoing interventions by Implementing Partners.
- Provide oversight and guidance to hub-office teams.
- Maintain regular communication with the Country Office.
- Facilitate inter-agency multi-sectoral GBV and SRH working groups.
- Work closely with other sectoral groups to ensure GBV and SRH considerations are integrated.
- Facilitate the implementation and contribute to the regular review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Document lessons learned, prepare topical briefing notes, and support the orientation of new staff.
- Assist in preparing external communication materials.
- Write monthly reports documenting progress against work plan outputs.
- Other duties as required.
Required Experience
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency and recovery coordination is required.
- Proven management, coordination, and program development skills.
- Strong communication, networking, and organizational abilities.
- Experience in UN humanitarian and recovery operations; prior experience in the region is an asset.
- Strong track record in people management and leading multi-disciplinary teams across remote locations.
- Knowledge of UNFPA’s mandate, particularly in SRH and GBV programming, is an asset.
Qualifications
Advanced degree in development, Humanitarian Assistance, Public Health, Social Sciences and/or other related fields.
