Overview
Intern to support multiple administrative sections, contributing to the smooth day-to-day functioning of the office. This position will be located in UN-Habitat Subregional Office for Mexico, Cuba and Central America.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative support across all administrative areas based on operational needs.
- Assist the Human Resources with onboarding activities for Affiliated Personnel and supporting documentation review.
- Provide support with filing financial support documents, and assist in tracking routine administrative transactions, ensuring completeness of records
- Assist in the preparation of procurement comparative charts, vendor coordination, and monitoring of procurement processes.
- Support to office with asset management control, coordinating maintenance, service requests and provide logistics support for conferences/events.
- Support for protocol-related activities, including coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores).
- Assist in organizing meetings, events, and official activities.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems.
- Prepare drafts of reports, presentations, and official correspondence, as required.
- Perform any other administrative tasks as assigned.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualifications
- Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
- Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Preferred areas of study: Currently enrolled in or recently completed a university degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Management, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Event Coordination, Logistics, Travel Administration, Hospitality Management, Tourism or a related field is required.
- In addition, applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, SharePoint, Canva and MS Teams.
