Overview

The Migration Health Nurse will perform daily nursing activities in the framework of health direct assistance and AVRR of medical cases, and provide information and detailed explanations to migrants regarding IOM health assistance, the migration health assessment process, and treatments and referrals.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily nursing activities in the framework of health direct assistance and AVRR of medical cases.
  • Provide information and detailed explanations to migrants regarding IOM health assistance, the migration health assessment process before movements, and treatments and referrals.
  • Ensure proper identification and follow-up by comprehensive history taking, referrals to doctors and hospitals, and accompanying particularly vulnerable migrants to hospitals.
  • Raise awareness about migrants’ right to health with health service providers.
  • Keep a register of applicants who benefit from health assistance.
  • Contribute to providing counselling and health education to migrants on health prevention and management.
  • Support with maintaining and updating IOM database in the area of migration and health for the sub-office, including ensuring all health assistance to beneficiaries is recorded on the IOM Migrant Management & Operational System (MiMosa) and other relevant databases.
  • Timely provide data for reporting.
  • Prepare administrative reports and updates on health trends in the region as necessary.
  • Assist with pre-departure documents, briefings, and preparations as necessary.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with various partners.
  • Collect statistical information and share with the Head of sub-office and the Senior Project Assistant in Tunis.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
  • For Bachelor's Degree holder a minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience and for Diploma holder a minimum of four years of relevant clinical experience.
  • Experience in working with people from different cultural background is an advantage.
  • Training or working experience in the areas of Tuberculosis management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing or public health is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of and experience in clinical nursing.
  • Knowledge of principles of preventive care and disease control.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited academic institution in Nursing in countries where the Diploma allows to fulfil the full scope of responsibilities defined in PDs.
  • A valid license to practice nursing in the country of duty station.

Fluency in French & Arabic is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of English is strongly desirable.
