Overview

The Supply Chain Officer is responsible and accountable for supply chain activities, guided by Supply Chain Management (SCM) objectives to deliver quality goods/services to beneficiaries at optimal price and in a timely manner.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to strategic planning for supply chain activities.
  • Conduct logistics capacity assessment and market research.
  • Coordinate and monitor supply chain management tasks and activities.
  • Contribute to the management of supply chain activities including planning, procurement, warehouse management, transport and distribution.
  • Identify supply chain bottlenecks and propose process optimization.
  • Review procurement requests and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Solicit bids, quotations and tender documents, oversee bidding process and prepare purchase orders.
  • Liaise with programme management and provide technical support for tendering processes.
  • Ensure timely submission of asset, procurement and other reports.
  • Contribute to the establishment and management of internal control mechanisms for Supply Chain Management.
  • Support and monitor the maintenance and repair of office facilities.
  • Provide training and guidance to SCM staff.
  • Participate in UN inter-agency meetings related to supply chain management.
Required Experience
  • Two years of relevant professional experience with a Master's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Four years of relevant professional experience with a University degree in the above fields.
  • Experience in managing diverse procurement and logistics operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in training and supervising teams of co-workers, managing vendors and suppliers.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • University degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.

Languages Required
Fluency in English and French is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is an advantage.
