Overview

The Security Coordination Associate will support the Security Office in developing and establishing effective communication processes to inform staff about security risk management activities, policy, and processes. The role focuses on information management, policy development, and communications.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support prescriptive content management, including development, review, and dissemination of security content.
  • Publish approved security policy and operating standards on appropriate websites and networks.
  • Develop targeted communications products, both printed and digital, to support policy comprehension.
  • Maintain a listing of prescriptive content items and analyze existing content and needs for new content.
  • Facilitate clearance of content by relevant senior managers.
  • Make arrangements and support the translation of approved content in French and Spanish.
  • Provide support in generating substantive input for security reports.
  • Support communications efforts related to crisis and emergency response.
  • Support reporting and analytical processes related to security compliance and oversight.
  • Assist in the collection, analysis, and application of security information to inform policy development.
  • Assist in the development of relevant tools for security information gathering and analysis.
  • Review, edit, and submit training materials for approval and implementation.
  • Maintain the Security Office SharePoint site, including developing new content.
  • Assist with formatting of content for the site, including multimedia content.
  • Implement regular online outreach to the online community via newsletter and other online tools.
  • Track visitors to the site and identify needs to improve visibility.
  • Coordinate with UNDP security to gather input from the field.
  • Prepare summaries of network discussions.
  • Coordinate in-house response to queries.
  • Actively support and contribute to knowledge networks and professional communities.
Required Experience
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in security risk management (with secondary education).
  • Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in security risk management (with bachelor’s degree).
  • Basic understanding of information technology related to content development, management of collaboration sites and functionality.
  • Knowledge and experience in the effective use of desktop publishing software.
  • A proven track record of report writing, editing, and product design for varied audiences.
Qualifications
  • Secondary Education is required.
  • University degree (bachelor’s degree or master's equivalent) in Communications, Security Information Management, Modern Languages, International Relations, or relevant fields will be given due consideration, but is not a requirement.
  • Applicable security, police, and/or military training is desirable.

Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of French and Spanish is an asset. Working knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
