Overview
To support the Finance Unit in the efficient processing, tracking, and reconciliation of Value Added Tax (VAT) refund claims in compliance with Government of Tanzania procedures and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the monitoring and recording of VAT claims, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely reconciliation.
- Retrieve and compile monthly tax invoices and supporting documents.
- Prepare and complete VAT claim forms and supporting documentation.
- Maintain an organized VAT claims tracking system/database.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with MoFA to obtain VAT clearance documentation.
- Facilitate submission of cleared claims to the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) and track progress of refunds.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with WFP financial procedures, and donor requirements related to VAT recovery.
- Support reconciliation of VAT receivables and provide updates for financial reporting.
- Identify delays, discrepancies, or bottlenecks in the VAT process and escalate as appropriate.
- Provide input and recommendations for the continuous improvement and updating of the VAT Standard Operating Procedures.
- Provide general administrative and finance support as required by the unit.
Required Experience
Prior experience in finance, accounting, or administrative roles is an added advantage.
Qualifications
University degree (or final-year student/graduate) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
