Overview

Supports security threat analysis, information management, and Saving Lives Together (SLT) coordination functions for the UNDSS Pakistan office.


Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, monitor and assess emerging threat trends affecting United Nations and SLT partners operations.
  • Conduct analysis of trends of security incidents affecting UNSMS and SLT partner organisations.
  • Develop technical knowledge and awareness of the security threat environments within assigned areas.
  • Conduct research and analysis on security related aspects affecting UN operations and to the SLT partner community.
  • Manage the databases of threats, security incidents and related assessments.
  • Supports the establishment and maintenance of SLT security coordination mechanism.
  • Actively supports the implementation of approaches to mainstreaming gender, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Perform other analytical and research assignments and tasks as required.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in applied military, police, international relations, disarmament affairs, conflict resolution, crime or terrorism prevention or political predictive analysis or security studies of threat factors in the field of criminology and/or corporate security is required.
  • Experience in international organizations, public, private or corporate sector within security or related area is required.
  • Experience in researching, analysing, and synthesising security threat information from multiple open and restricted sources is desirable.
  • Prior experience working within South Asia region, with demonstrated knowledge of the local security, political, and operational context, is desirable.
  • Experience working with or supporting inter-agency security coordination mechanisms, including those involving Non-Governmental Organisations, International Oganisations, or Saving Lives Together partner organisations, is desirable.
  • Experience in developing or maintaining security information databases, analytical products, or threat assessment reports in a field security context is desirable.
Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in political, military or criminal science, international relations or related fields. A first-level university degree in any of these fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
