Overview
The Field Security Assistant performs duties within the Security Unit, obtaining security information, assessing its impact, and assisting in managing security incidents and administrative work.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtains comprehensive security information and assesses impact on safety and security.
- Monitors open sources, collects information through interlocutors, and develops situational awareness.
- Assists in managing security and safety incidents/crisis.
- Manages administration and logistical work of the security unit.
- Receives, records, and acts on information received through all communication means.
- Assists in maintaining fire safety preparedness and conducts assessments and drills.
- Conducts investigations and prepares reports on accidents and incidents.
- Liaises and coordinates with host government security organizations and personnel.
- Liaises and exchanges security information with mission components and other UN agencies.
- Conducts premises security assessments.
- Prepares and provides security briefings, advice, and recommendations.
- Assists in maintaining security and fire safety information database.
- Helps in the preparation and review of the UN Security Plan.
- Monitors and assesses Security and Safety Service providers performance.
- Assists with monitoring security measures implementation.
- Assists in security budget preparation and security procurement.
- Carries out any other duties assigned by the Chief Security Officer.
Required Experience
A minimum of Five years of related work experience in Military, Police or Security is required. The minimum number of years of relevant experience is reduced to three (03) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree. Experience in dealing with gender-based security, victim support, investigating sexual offence cases is desirable. Experience in managing security and safety incident is desirable. Knowledge on security information analysis and prepare reports using MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint is desirable.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required. A valid driver's license is required.
